Author: Glenda Carlile

Oklahoma author, Glenda Carlile, has written this book featuring Oklahoma women, 1950-2007, who forged a path in history. The book was written in time for the state centennial in 2007, but continues to be a valuable source and interesting read.

Stories about famous women like Jeane Kirkpatrick, who was born in Duncan in 1926, and became a U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Kirkpatrick died in 2006, but not before Glenda spent time with her to interview her for this book. Other notables: five Miss America’s all from Oklahoma, Clara Luper, mother of the Civil Rights movement, Wanda Jackson, queen of Rockabilly and multi-media superstar and 2005 American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, who is a seven-time Grammy Award winner.

This softcover fits in your tote, messenger back or purse at 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches and just over an inch thick, weighing barely a pound. Autographed by the author.

We also carry Carlile’s other titles, Petticoats, Politics and Pirouettes: Oklahoma Women from 1900-1950; and Buckskin, Calico and Lace: Oklahoma’s Territorial Women.
