Our educators are Great Expectations certified and love what they do – Bringing history to life through interactive teaching.

Engaging Students through Field Trips

Our Education Session programs involve the best of history, art and music for a total learning experience.

Engaging students to learn and have fun is what our Great Expectation certified educators do best as they teach them about Chisholm Trail and Oklahoma history. Bringing historical characters to life, our educators even dress in period costumes of the people they represent.

Students discover the interesting lives of such notables like Pearl Carter Scott, Kentucky Daisey, Edna Ahrens, Johnnie Abernathy, Lizzie Johnson, or Mrs. Will Rogers, depending upon the current program.
Our educators encourage students in investigating the past through interactive teaching. Great attention to detail and accuracy is provided by our teaching staff, which encourages students to learn more and be enthusiastic when they leave, and wanting to learn more.  The target grades are 3rd, 4th and 5th, though we host younger students, older students and adults. Our aim is to educate all those who want to learn more about the Chisholm Trail and Oklahoma history connections.

Teacher Testimonials

We are always receiving wonderful letters from the public school teachers who bring their classes.

Thank you for having us, we had such a great time! It’s important for me to bring my students, because of the experience. It is an interactive and fun way to learn about the Chisholm Trail. The Chisholm Trail is a third grade Oklahoma history standard. I couldn’t teach that standard the way the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center does. They do an amazing job bringing the Chisholm Trail alive for my students, with the interactive animatronics, STEAM project, the play center, and the movie.

My students remember their experience at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center long after they have left my classroom.

I can’t thank you enough for having us! – Tammie Phanson – 3rd grade teacher/Almor West Elementary

The Heritage Center is the only non-profit to receive the Great Expectations Model School Certification, 14 consecutive years. (Awarded again in 2020).

STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math are at the core of all sessions for all ages. All sessions cover Oklahoma Academic Visual Art Standard 4
