Pearl was honored by the Oklahoma House of Representatives on Nov. 11, 2002, thanks to State Rep. Ray McCarter, who also is from Marlow – where Pearl lived her life. She was bestowed many honors in her lifetime, including induction into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma Aviation and Space Hall of Fame.

 

This book is filled with pieces of history.

Excerpt: On Saturday, Oct. 4 (2003) Pearl was thrilled to participate in the Chickasaw Nation Annual Meeting parade, riding with her friend Commander John Herrington. ….The symbolism of the first Chickasaw aviator and the first Chickasaw astronaut riding together was a powerful reminder of the advances in aviation technology that had been made in just over 70 years from Pearl’s Curtiss Robin to Herrington’s Space Shuttle Endeavour.”

 

On page 203 is a reference to the Chisholm Trail.
