Regional Artist Spotlight: Janet Loveless
Janet Loveless, a resident of Marlow, has honed her artistic talents throughout her entire life. Gay Faulkenberry, Chris Morel and others have helped her grow as an artist. Challenging herself, she takes classes and workshops and paints plein air, “where you have to develop and document quickly.”
She is in our Regional Artist Spotlight this holiday season. Three original oil paintings are on display in the Garis Gallery of the American West. “Watchful Eye” “Running Free” and “Wichita Wildlife Refuge” are her newest works. A watercolor painting from her earlier years is in the permanent Garis collection.
Loveless has been a Marlow resident since 1974. Originally from the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland, art has been a main component of her entire life.
“I continue to work through galleries and various venues to promote my art as well as the education of others to understand the complexity of painting and appreciation of its fundamental development,” Loveless said. “I find arts, especially painting, a great direction for many youth who have been saturated by the world of technology and feel they tap into their natural creative senses through the appreciation of art.”
As with any of our regional artists featured, the paintings are available for purchase and can be taken home on the same day. To purchase for donation to the museum, please ask to speak with Leah or Toni. To purchase for your own collection, inquire at the gift shop front counter.
