Bison – Ancient. Massive. Wild.
Head on down the road to see us! May 24 – July 28, 2019.

This nationally touring exhibit explores the significance of the bison from pre-history, to their relationship with the Plains Indians, near extinction, and current iconic status. As you visit this exhibit, you explore the significance of bison in the cultures of Plains Indian peoples – particularly as a resource for food, clothing, shelter and tools.

Book your group tours for all ages. Families and small groups always welcome. Open 7 days a week or special hours with advanced request. Educational programming available.

Bison is a North American species whose story stretches from Plains Indian hunters to entrepreneurial industrialists to dedicated conservationists to today’s producers and enthusiasts.

What other teachers have to say about our programs!

Our trip was indeed enjoyable. I must say that it is truly a blessing that our students are able to participate in such a hands-on and fun field trip which educates them on the wonders of southwest Oklahoma. The fact that you are able to fund this opportunity for our students is truly what touches my heart. As an educator of 29 years, it is a sad reality that my students today are not allotted the same opportunity to experience hands-on learning through field trips like my students experienced 10 years ago. We thank you and your wonderful and talented staff for having the perception of knowing what you are giving to our students and finding a way to remove the barriers which keep these experiences from happening.

Thank you for all you do!

Oklahoma Land Run sessions
Mar 23 @ 9:30 am – Apr 22 @ 2:00 pm

Who’s a Boomer and who is a Sooner? What wild ride did Kentucky Daisey take in the Oklahoma land run? Racing for their own piece of “Oklahoma land” then providing an occupation at the land claim office, and other fun things happen in what is our most popular field trip session here at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center.

At the crack of the pistol, they are off and running to grab their stake and claim their land!

Every session incorporates STEAM (STEM with ART!) Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math.
