John Cook was born and raised in California. He joined the U.S. Navy in search of adventure and to see the world. It worked well since he worked in the engine room on the USS England, sailing all over the Pacific. He visited many countries, including Australia, Hong Kong, and Japan, among others. It was an eye-opening experience that taught him to respect other cultures and people.
John said, “I have always loved history and art. I even tried to paint, but I did not feel the fulfillment from the artwork.” About eight years ago, he began creating mosaics, where he discovered his love for this art form. To him, it combines old and new world art. “It encompasses my love of history and art,” John said, “I enjoy the challenge of mosaics.”
